Something to ponder...
James 1:2-4
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
Romans 5:3
"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance"
James 5:11
"As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy."
Can you imagine actually having a major trial in your life and considering it pure joy?? Matt mentioned this to me today and I've been thinking about it ever since. I've been through my own share of trials, and not until its long over can I actually see the good that came from it. Hindsight is 20/20. I have always been one to thank God through my trials/temptations, but never have I considered it pure joy.
Its not the "perfect people" who have never made a mistake who are spoken of in the Bible. It is those who have persevered and found their way to an incredible life following Christ.
This is where I need to be. Let me praise God in my circumstances.
Not that I am asking for another trial, but boy, if it gets me closer to God, bring it on!
